It's the stately home they used for Lady Mary's house in 'Pie and Prejudice', which is also the house where Hal and Lady Catherine have their first scene in "The Trinity".
So, you know... not distracting at all, being reminded of that every time I go into work ;)

Yeah Tredegar house. I'll be going to see it next month! You know some of the forumers are the ones picnic-ing on the lawn in the overall shot of it in Pie and Prejudice.

I looked up the history and make a blink and you miss it mention of it in an early chapter of my fic. If I ever rewrite (after I finish) I have plans to add a bit more detail.

Hi Aradia! What a lovely place to work! When we visited Tredegar during our BH fieldrtrip 2 summers ago not even any of the staff we spoke to had heard of Being Human.... but, as you say, everybody knows about the Dr Who conncection - and they've even got a dalek to prove it! It's pretty obvious where most of the filming for BH was done, but I'm pretty confounded by the 'rough and tumble' scene with Lady Catherine....I have a theory that they used a room which isn't open to the public - can you help??!
I think it's such a shame that the NT don't make more of their premises being used for filming. Lacock Abbey, and even Gloucester Cathedral, advertise the fact that they were used for filming Harry Potter - not overtly - so if you aren't interested it's not forced on you - but you can pick up a guide sheet which tells you what was filmed where in Gloucester Cathedral!
That's always confused me too - I thought I recognised the fireplace but the room isn't right. I'll be starting training as a room host soon, so I can ask people who might know! A lot of rooms have been closed recently due to mould problems and I haven't seen them all. I agree about filming locations -I've always tried to get staff to publish something but for some reason not many people are interested, even though, as you say, fans will come visit for that very reason!

In reply to fifi, the room in question is the 'best chamber', which hasn't been open until recently, and no longer has the furniture in it, although the fireplace and picture above it is recognisable.

Thanks Aradia! The best chamber sounds like a very apt name! I'll have to check it out next time I'm there. Shame if the bed's gone - but the temptation could've just proved too much and the NT don't enjoy people clambering over their furniture. They'd have needed to find a lot of pine cones...... lol!
How i miss Hal! I think i need to rewatch some Being Human.
Re the Kia Ora discussion: I wrote a fic about how i thought it would affect Hal. I know a lot of kids are sensitive to E numbers in cordial/squash and just assumed that this affected Hal to a more extreme point. I think also with how Hal lined up those dominoes, as well as being an exercise in control, how he stuck to those routines made me wonder whether he was on the spectrum to begin with, and Jamie kind of confirmed it. (I read it and announced 'I KNEW it!!') but that stuff is nasty...Kia Ora, my kids won't touch it at all (Robinsons Fruit and Barley is much nicer and i think would've been more Hal-friendly)
Last month, my son finished his college course and his dad and I went along to see him receive his certificate and his tutor announced that the group were going to sing along to and sign an S-Club 7 track....which one I hear you ask...it was 'Reach For The Sky'. Oh how i grinned, and enjoyed it and all the time imagined Hal and Tom...(and the college group were brilliant at it)
That must have been a very pleasing moment for you ruby, a Hal and Tom moment and seeing your son get his certificate ! Congratulations to your son for completing his college course :)
Lisa I totally agree about Hal being on the spectrum and being sensitive to sugar, artificial sweeteners, colorings etc.
Awesome about your son. Well done to him and you! So funny about the S-Club 7.

I was going through some stuff recently and found the silver ring I inherited from my great-grandfather, who was a merchant sailor. The inscription inside is 'kia-ora'!
Presumably he went to New Zealand, or met someone who spoke Maori (apparently it means 'good health'?), but I never knew him. It made me smile when I saw it!

That's so cool Aradia! Hmm, interesting, I didn't know it means "good health". I thought it was just a funny name for that drink. Apparently it wasn't good for Hal though
The room where the class I go to is taught has these weird high tables which have bar stools. I always try and drag the chair with my foot and sit down like Hal does. Clearly not as cool as Hal does it though.
