Decayed and murdered corpses are found in a slum tenement, and the advanced stages of the police divisional boxing championship – the Lafone Cup – reveal the vengeful ferocity to be found within the ranks of the force itself.
As Reid and Drake find themselves powerless to resist the awful temptation of a final reckoning with K Division’s Jedediah Shine, so Jackson and Judge’s ever more desperate attempts to profit from that stolen diamond lead them into the teeth of the murderous agents of the De Graal monopoly.
And Long Susan must decide where her future lies – with Jackson, or allied to the venal but powerful Duggan.
Cast list added to the top post, we have confirmation that Flight is indeed in episode 8, the final episode of Ripper Street!
It is good to know that since his introduction Damien's new character has appeared in very episodes, yes to varying degrees, but that is more than cast be said for many other of the main cast members! Which is what makes the decision to cancel the show even more tragic. it looks as if Damien is/was indeed a new cast member not guest cast.
It is a shame! Just think of the development his character would go through if there was a season 3. The new guy with no respect to a seasoned pro who is no longer doing clerical work but solving crimes and respected by his peers

My all time fave Hal line (just love the way he says it)
"We've been played! My God! We've been played!"
"Annie's getting hysterical downstairs and I'm not enjoying it"
"kill me. Kill me now. You can tell Annie that I attacked you or something"
"“Were you guys talking about me? I heard ‘clearly gorgeous’”
I must admit that, despite feeling certain that Ripper Street would return for a 3rd series, I was only hopeful....optimistic that Flight would be in it. I'm certain that they won't kill him off, though - not after Hobbs - and I had thought that it would be a bit much to have to introduce a new junior for each series..... Even if they hadn't intended to bring him back I'm sure they would've seen the error of their ways! So, yeah - optimistic.
Is it very sad to admit that I'm still optimistic? Probably!
I'm still clinging on to my optimism for Being Human too (despite Toby Whithouse's assurance that "it's never going to happen"!) I do like to remind the BBC from time to time that they are partly funded by me......I feel it's important to let them know what programmes I want them to broadcast.....
I am deeply sad for Damien and us, that it looks as if Flight s indeed being established as a main cast member - and the prospect of next series stories was an exciting one.
I have not given up either fifi!
That either way, it's not going to end well for him.
Going on those pictures from the 'next time' clip, i don't think Flight will tell Reid, i think he will find out from a second party. I'm wondering whether Reid will tell Flight to get out and not darken H Division again and Flight, feeling trapped by his situation, will use the gun as an only way out of it. I think he will be the one who will sort out Shine, either by killing him or exposing him. I think if he does kill him, the boxing match will play a part, Flight will have all of those witnesses and he will shoot him in that ring, not before exposing Shine for what he is and perhaps what he did/his influence on him and he may shoot himself. He may also hold the gun to his own head and threaten to kill himself and be talked down by Reid/Drake/Jackson (either or all) going in the theme that all three of those men hold guilt themselves or alternatively, both Shine and Flight will be mortally injured through whatever circumstances (and perhaps then Flight will earn his redemption) but i do think the whole thing will climax in the boxing ring.
I do hope Flight survives to fight another day but in truth, i don't think he will
Probably completely and utterly wrong but i am a fic writer and this is what is inside my head right now.

All of the glorious optimism which I was experiencing at the chat last night - that it'll all turn out OK - evaporated today when what Abberline said to Reid when he was persuading him to send flight undercover in ep 4 popped into my head (...and I wasn't even consciously thinking about it!):
"I have not forgot the boy you lost last year, Edmund. But you will lose more before this life is out and nothing can be done to change that fact."
Is it just me - or does that sound a bit depressingly portentious......
I can see him shooting Shine and then turning the gun on himself. Whether he goes through with it and is talked down by Reid or Drake or Jackson, remains to be seen, if this does happen
That either way, it's not going to end well for him.

THIS!
Agree that Reid will most likely find out through 2nd party, but I'm hoping it's Flight that tells him, that his guilty conscience gets the better of him. I could see Reid still reacting that way. And maybe, just maybe, that's part of how he could redeem himself. But I'm finding it hard to see how Flight is going to come out on top. Even if the shooting himself or being wounded through circumstances doesn't happen, I don't know that the men of H Division will forgive him and that might be the end of Flight there.
His words in the trailer "Oh my Lord God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you." Have a very "last confession" feel to them. I have no doubt he will try to shoot Shine, just don't know how it's all going to play out. One thought I have is that the teasing in the "next time" previews is usually not so straightforward. Flight is checking the hand gun, then they show the handgun pointed. But usually it's Jackson's doing the shooting. Maybe, just maybe, this will be the case now?

So I woke up with the following best case scenario theories in my head for the final ep of series 2
Shine and Drake get into a deadly scuffle after the boxing match... Flight saves Drake's life, thereby eliminating his secret and redeeming himself with Reid and Drake all in one go...
Drake and Rose get it together, so Rose can lay with the man she loves for the first time and Drake has is heart mended all by the end of the series...
Long Susan strangles evil Dugan between her thighs. Girl power!
The 'ten teasers' of dialogue are up at the cultbox site. I'll copy and paste the link, i'm sure domino will do her magic and have them up for everyone to see :)
I agree about the outrunning his shame. Sounds Flight-ish. Not sure about the second.

Thanks for posting the link to the Cultbox teasers Lisa, finally got there in the end with editing it (it looks like the forum was mistaking a couple of the characters in the link for a smilie and that caused it to go squiffy!)
Agree about the shame quote and must admit to having a Hal moment with "Kill him".
belated on your 1000th post Lisa!
Sorry I missed that before! (1002 and now! )
I reckon, Reid and drake and Jackson aren't gonna find out about flight working for shine at all, flight is gonna kill shine right before they find out saving the day and cementing his place in H devision but being left with the guild of what he had done (set up for the next series)
I think long Susan is gonna leave Jackson and get with Dugan to save her livelihood
Agree with domino on drake and rose, I think they will get together
Those are my musings anyway! I hope flight doesn't die!! Xxx

Sooner or later, we all go back to being the monsters we truly are!
I think Susan will kill Duggan before she lets him touch her. Last week's episode ended just as she entered the room. She carried a pistol in her garter belt in S1 so i wouldn't be surprised if she shoots him and either legs it OR shoots him and faces the consequences. I don't think she will submit.
Going by the screen shots of Reid shaking the life out of Flight in the 'next time' slot, I think we can say, Reid finds out. I think Flight is going to be young, scared, inexperienced young man well out of his depths and in the process he'll break all of our hearts.
