It is great that it's sold out! I'm ridiculously happy that I got to see this.....and even more ridiculously happy that I'm going to see it again. If anyone wants to see this in London and hasn't got a ticket, it's always worth checking out with the Gate Theatre if they've got any returns.....
thank you for pointing that out fifi, there are no guarantee of course, but there have been returns at the Gate Theatre run so if anyone is willing to try their luck..... and good luck!
The Royal & Derngate have now sold out on 1 March, but you can still add your name to the waiting list.
There are still tix available for the post show talk date, 3 March!
so i had an incredible time at The Body of an American last night! i'll post a full review of my experience over the weekend as it's back to work / reality this morning!

I remember the first time you met Damien and posted your photos here, makes me really happy to see the longer term fans still having their stage door moment with the man. Thank you, as always, for sharing and looking forward to your review
i feel so lucky that i've seen Damien 3 times on stage now & managed to meet him afterwards every time.
so thankfully despite fears of train cancellations, bad weather & tube strikes i got to the venue crazy early at 4pm. after occupying myself & hiding from the rain i went into the Gate theatre at about 6.15pm. collected my ticket & bought the programme / script book. i decided against venturing outside in the rain so sat on the bench in the 'foyer' area & waited. i was on the phone to my mum when i spotted someone else arrive as it was deserted up to that point. it was damien himself! he walked up towards me, spotted me & clearly recognised me from previous meetings. he waved, i waved back as i was still on the phone & he disappeared out the back to his dressing room i assumed.
the venue got much busier & they let us in. everyone here knows about the environment for the performance by now. i sat on the left as you went through the doorway, back row, near the middle. the instant damien & william came in, i was transfixed. it was a breathtaking, exhilarating 90 minutes. i was so close i could have reached out to touch them. i was so impressed by the performances, the speed & complexity of the delivery. the way one moment you'd be laughing at a pop culture reference & then heartbroken at an emotional confession. the second it was over i wanted to see it again as there was so much to take in. highlights for me were the brief moments where damien removed his hat as i'm a fan of his messy, long hair!!
i decided against staying for the after show debate, popped to the loo instead & was at the bottom of the stairs about to go when yet again damien headed straight towards me as he was about to leave the venue. we left together, stopped on the road & thankfully it wasn't raining. as is always the case i didn't have enough hands to hold my bags, grab items for damien to sign, get my camera out & attempt to speak without getting all flustered. anyway damien kindly signed the programme & series 5 blu-ray cover for Being Human. i said how impressed i was with the show & asked how he remembers all the lines as it's very intense. he replied practice..lots of practice so there is no chance you ever forget..you'll remember the lines for the rest of your life!! i mentioned the forum & he said he appreciated all the support. i said something like i'm really excited to see Suspects soon & he said so was he & that he's seen the first episode himself so far. i asked for a photo & thankfully a lady who works in the theatre appeared to do the honours. damien joked she'd do it if i sent it on to her (or words to that effect). she asked portrait or landscape to which i joked do both just in case! the results are above. then i thanked damien & he went on his way again. i probably said more but it's a blur now! right on cue it began raining as i walked back to paddington.
an amazing evening yet again in the presence of two incredible actors. an experience that will never be forgotten.

Thank you so much for sharing Matty. Sounds like you've had a wonderful day and Damien was his usual lovely self afterwards.
I am so pleased that this play is getting such fantastic reviews from the media as well as from the fans. Makes me kind of proud of him, seeing as we've been fans from the first time we saw him on our screens...two years ago would you believe it?
Matty, thank you for sharing. I LOVE hearing these stories of Damien encounters and about how incredible this play is. Lucky you didn't miss him while in the loo, that did happen to one of our mods. I remember reading about the other times you've met him as well. He's always so gracious.
Ruby, also proud. We are somewhat protective of him aren't we. I'm still kicking myself for not having discovered him earlier, over a year for me now, but I wasn't there at the very beginning. Still, it's nice to be here as he rises, getting the recognition he deserves. The reviews for this play and his performance are stellar. Really award winning - I hope he gets even more recognition as a result!
I have to admit, it's become even more enjoyable to read these stories since I will actually be going to go see this one next month and meeting him. I'm trying to contain myself as I know there are many that won't and I count myself very lucky.

Matty, thanks for sharing in detail, it was good to hear that little bit of insight into the play.
It sounds like luck was on your side in terms of bumping into Damo

Had a lovely time last night meeting up with Laura, and finally meeting Kat, and oh yes, that nice young man Mr Molony. It's been a long time since I loitered at a stage door and I'm glad I did. Damien's a lovely, polite, generous and inclusive guy. Yep, I got all that from just a few minutes meeting.
Next time I hope I can stick around longer. It's been a long week and it was catching up on me. Meanwhile, I'll see if I can get that precious photo of myself and Damo to you all.

Had a fantastic time yesterday afternoon. It was my first time seeing Damien perform live and it was an incredible experience.
I turned up at the theatre about an hour before the show and collected my ticket. As there was a while to go and there was nobody else there, I made my way next door to the pub and got myself a drink to pass the time.
When I headed back, I was quite lucky to be quite close to the front of the queue to go in and I managed to get a seat on the front row with one of the chairs right in front of me.
When Damien and William appeared, Damien took the chair in front of me! So close! It took me a few minutes to recover from being that close to him and focus on what was happening in the play.
I've never been to a theatre production this small and this close to the actors performing it. As it's been mentioned before, it made it so much more real, more intimate. It was a thrilling 90 minutes, the speed that both actors swapped into different characters was brilliant. The highlight for me was a part when Damien (as Dan) was recalling a moment from his past. The emotion was so deep, almost tangible, Damien himself was wiping tears from his eyes as he was delivering it.
After the show, I did hang around outside for a few minutes to see whether Damien and/or William came out of the stage door, but being the matinee performance, I wasn't sure if they would. Plus, as a woman alone, I felt a little concious, so I left. Would love to have met him, but maybe another time.

Matty - lovely pics...thanks! Glad you had a good time.
UJ - so pleased for you that you got to say hi to Damien.
Ritz - Sounds like you sat in pretty much the same place I did! Shame you didn't get to meet Damien, but it's not often that you get to sit quite so close to the performers in the theatre....
I'm glad everyone is enjoying the play and that those that can are getting to meet Damien as well.
It's a shame you couldn't hang around Ritz, but yay that you got to see the play and sit so close to the lovely man; it's such a surreal experience isn't it?
Laura, UJ and I all went (for some of us, again!) on Saturday night and had another brilliant time. We elected to sit on the back row (controversial, I know!) this time - I think the seat padding is thinner there as I had a numb bum for most of the performance, lol! - but it was just as good. And great to see it from another perspective; if anyone is lucky enough to go more than once, definitely pick different seats each time as it does change how you view the play!
And, as UJ said, we were lucky enough once again to see Damien afterwards - he had quite a little crowd actually, 10 people!! Of course, the man was a gent, especially when we bombarded him with (mainly my) rubbish questions, haha. He'd noticed that we had changed seats again and agreed that it was a good idea to see the show from different angles. He also talked a little bit about Suspects and how he'd already seen this episode (at which point I said "well, to be fair, you were pretty much there all the time as well!!"). I mentioned that he seemed to do a lot of running in the series and he replied that he thought he'd tore his hamstring at one point there was so much of it!
I can also report that the lemon tree is still in his dressing room, but currently has no fruit!
Yeah, I only noticed that when I uploaded the pictures - oops! I would like to pretend it was my pregnancy brain and I needed to hold on,but I suspect it was more nefarious than that, *evil cackle*
Lovely photos Matty, Damien always looks relaxed in his photos with you and I know from Royal Court how chatty he with you.
Had a great time meeting up with Kat & UJ on Saturday (and seeing Damien again, of course). Not a fan of the back row , front row in front of the 2 chairs is by far the best place to be. Unless, of course, you're someone who didn't listen to the friendly ushers who told you before the show to switch your mobile phone off!! Every single perfomance I have gone to, a mobile phone has gone off - in the front row!! (Not mine, I hasten to say).

UJ, glad you met Damien, it is always wonderful to hear (but never surprising) such positive words about him
Ritz! So glad you got to see the play, thank you for sharing your experience with us! the more I hear about the intimacy of it, the more I am amazed that you all actually managed to remian upright, and breathing!
wow the emotion of the performance sounds incredible. There will definitely be another time, though I am sorry you didn't see Damien at the stage door this time.
Kat, another lovely glowy photo! thank you for sharing, it brings a smile! thank you for asking about the lemon tree, how sad that it wasnt fruiting when he recieved it, but if he takes good care of it, it will!
It's a lovely photo PradaKat! It's not a all dodgy! It must have been the Glad you were all able to see Damien after the show again tho. Sounds like you all had a lovely time.
Thanks domino! I'm sure there'll be another time.
Love the photos Matty! Glad you enjoyed it too.

Kat you are holding onto him pretty tight! positively possessive. And you look radiant!
I hope his dressing room has a window. Though I guess with the way the weather has been, wouldn't make too much difference. I wonder how big the tree is. Visions of him carrying a plant on the tube!
Ritz yay that you got to see him perform. TBH, I would probably feel self concious and not stick around if I were alone, but now that you've seen him perform, then next time you'll have the courage to take the next step!
