Yeah, it did seem random, that's why I assumed at first it was just the lateness of the your, they seemed a bit loopy. I assume he tried her on the radio off camera, we're made to feel that some time has passed since they've been there and he's a bit T'd off.

I think i know what you mean Jane, was quite taken aback by the sudden change of pace, in the opening of this ep, when Chalrie asked is he hot, but took it more that we are being immersed into a pre-existing world, of which we only saw a glimpse in the first ep, and an ep where it would be less appropriate to inject humour,
this week's subject matter, although still harrowing, wasn't perhaps as sensitive so allowed for a bit more humour maybe?
I was delighted, and may have actually clapped my hands, giggled and bounced on the bed!!!
But I agree, it is very improv, in the moment. they just went with the flow.

Loved jack being all detective on the crime scene... the forensics bit with Analise, the way he seemed to be onto Dave Mastings a little bit from the start...
agree domino, this was an episode they got to explore more humor. the subject not as sensitive.

Jack and Charlie are at the hospital. Charlie finds out Kirk's nightclub was closed last year due to drug related violence.
Jack interviews Kirk, who has no memory of the attack, just walking into his office.
Scene 7: 06.03-06.23
Back at HQ Charlie informs Jack the toxicology report shows Ziggy took PMA an ecstasy substitute. She asks Jack if they should wake up "the boss" but he tells her it is not necessary.
(Scene 8: 06.24-06.42 Charlie interviews Wakim, who was seen with Ziggy that night. He tells Charlie he is her personal trainer but hangs out with her sometimes and left the club early, and that Ziggy was also with her friend Hannah Stevenson)
(Scene 9: 06.43-07.54 Charlie interviews Hannah, who says she also took PMA but Ziggy took much more. She felt weird, so left to go back to her uni halls. She doesn't know where the drug came from)
Scene 10: 07.55- 08.51
Back at the hospital with Jack interviewing Kirk, who says his sister isn't a regular drug user, doesn't know who gave her the PMA and is angry about someone bringing drugs into his club
Scene 11: 08.52-09.27
At HQ Charlie tells Jack 19 year old Tom Yeoman has been found dead in an alleyway, with a flyer for the nightclub and a wrap of PMA in his pocket. Jack decides DI Martha needs to be informed, "I gotta ring the boss".
It was hard to keep on tracks with this ep, they really messed my mind with all those interviews and I felt I don't know what is going on. I wasn't sure was that the point, but you know, in the first ep they were looking for that little girl and trying to find her and in this ep there was lot going on
Apart from that, what struck me the most about these scenes was how Jack insisted on not needing to wake the boss.. and then deciding they did need to.
what struck me from these scenes is how intuitive Jack is. He seems to know exactly what questions to ask Kirk, and does it a bit sensitively. And how authoritative he is with Charlie. He's very comfortable in his role as her boss, and knows how far he can take the investigation without having to even wake his boss.

Jozie I have tried to break the interviews down... scene by scene so i hope that helps. in these scenes we are talking about the interview jack did with Kirk in the hospital bed
One other thing I noticed too, Jack plays with pens a lot and with coffee mugs, sometimes this is bad cause when they do some scene many times and cut something, there are moments when Jack is holding mug, then not, then holding mug again. Same happens with pen.
yes, what you said whimsy but.... maybe i was being cynical but there was there a little bit of the Jack pulling rank or being compeitive when he made those decisions?
