This was the bit when Charlie told Carrie that Jason was the father of Anna's baby....and she just crumpled...having been so defiant just seconds earlier - and excellent bit of acting!
seeing the 3 detectives go together somehow highlighted that we have only seen a mere snapshot of their working lives... how often did Martha accompany them? this was a big case.. how often did they deal with cases this big, was it par for the course or a massive one for them?
I did do a cheer inside when they cracked this grooming gang.
well geeze while I was typing my connection stopped and now you guys HAVE moved on to final scenes!

the girl playing Carrie was fab. I've been extremely impressed with all the acting on this show from the extras.

alright brain is shutting down. thanks guys. I was sad I missed the ep 4 chat, so it was great to come to this one, even with fuzzy brain. I always feel I gain something new each time and makes me want to rewatch with this new perspective.
goodnight ladies.

Jane and fifi, Carrie was almost the biggest tragedy of this episode... her defending Jason, the way he had brainwashed her... Anna too. brilliant acting.
The total confusion of the arrest scene (like, as whimsy said, the one in the 'rape' ep) is really very effective. The way that Martha called for Jack and Charlie to make sure they were ok was a nice touch - it must really be pretty chaotic in that sort of situation...and I'm sure it's hard for them to know what's going on
I really like that Martha worked with Jack a lot in this episode. It was great to see her more involved in the case, but shame that we didn't see much of Charlie.

the final rooftop scene between Martha and Jack was a real shift in team dynamics.. usually it is charlie and jack needing to get away from the case, Martha is so strong and professional, in this episode she was top notch.. but she was clearly effected too.. and still containing it, even when taking some time out.
Jack apologising was a humble moment from him, it felt genuine and sincere... as did Martha's reaction, her humour is also on point, perhaos some much needed light relief at the end of an incredibly difficult to tackle subjecy matter.
Jack's almsot flirtatious comment was a delight.. and a great way to end the episode.. and as it turned out, the series!
"Listen, I'm really sorry about what happened earlier on with Sean. He just gave me nothing. I thought it was a way of breaking him. I know now it was wrong and you were right. And I'm just sorry I put you in that position."
"I just think our cells are packed full of people who haven't had a second chance, that's all. Sometimes people deserve another look, do you know what I'm saying?"
"Yeah. I do now, I just..."
"You're a bloody good detective, Jack. You know it. And one day you'll be doing my job. It's just your emotions get in the way sometimes that's all. I gotta shout at someone. I don't know. Stop being so premenstrual or something. Whatever it is, do you know what I mean? Is it a full moon? I don't know what it is, you guys...."
"You're the second person that's described me like that today. You coming down?"
"I'll be down in a minute. Won't be long"
"You sure? kettle on? "
"See you later. I thought you were coming for a hug."
It looks like we are winding down. I need to go make dinner anyway.
Thanks again for hosting the chats Domino. They've been fun and interesting as always. Thanks to everyone who joined in too. I'm so glad I was able to make it for all of them (don't think I completely missed any).

I was a wonderful exchange....I have found myself wondering if this was intended to be ep 5, or whether Jack's parting comment to Martha made them decide to use it as the series finale..?
That's an interesting point fifi, I hadn't thought about the fact that they can choose to show the episodes in any order since they aren't interrelated.
