yeah his "can I arrest him now" really jumped out at me. also the cctv footage of him bringing Sean in. that was I think very powerful in that it had no dialog, but his posture revealed everything that he was feeling. He barely waited after walking up to the counter to drag Sean in.

What I wonder is that Jack was really angry for Sean, then he wanted to arrest him. I though there was going to be action but no, very quiet arrest in scene 14. Surprised me.
so I guess what we're supposed to interpret is that Anna carried the knife with her (obvious signs of self harm) all the time. they still didn't explain how the friend got a hold of it (later) to stab her.

This first interview with Sean... Jack really does step over the line, clicking his fingers in his face and practically shouting at him.. considering the sensitivity of this case and that he has just told Sean his step daughter has been sexually assaulted, it really is not the best from detective Jack... but rivetting to watch?
"No? What about last night? Sean? Let's go"
"DO YOU HAVE A HEROIN PROBLEM? Are you forcing your 13-year-old stepdaughter into prostitution to fund your heroin...."
"Your 13-year-old daughter is in hospital in a critical condition, stabbed last night, raped the night before. Are you gonna try and help her? What do you know?"
At the time I was thinking maybe she took the knife with her for protection and someone got a hold if it and used it against her instead. Of course we found out later how it really went down.

I actually found myself feeling really sorry for Sean in the inteview...without even knowing if he was guilty or not! But knowing that he wasn't guilty it really makes me cringe!! Imagine finding out that you're step-daughter, who has recently lost her mum, has all of this shit going on...and you find out about it like this....
domino, I really liked that interview scene. Jack was on fire! Powerful emotions, great scene (part of me has always hoped that Jack will really get angry for someone, I would be after those "I dunno" and "no comment"- comments). They are human, it was good reminder of that.
I have just always waited that reaction and now it finally happened. Of course, it was wrong, so when Martha was giving Jack a little speech about it, I felt Jack deserved it. He was being unprofessional but maybe I'm little weird cause I wanted to see when Jack looses it? It was good scene. Made it more realistic.
and.... Jack gets his telling off for his approach and attitude to Sean from Martha:
"I do not want to mop up your unprofessional shit. And I do not want to have to fucking apologise to somebody that we have arrested thank you very much. It's counterproductive Jack, you know that. Stop playing fucking Clint Eastwood, that's why you're on my team because you know about this shit. Go and read your fucking manual."
I felt sorry for Sean too. Despite being an addict, he seemed like he cared for Anna. I can sympathize with Jack's methods in that he really is suspicious and wants too do what's right for the victim. In his mind the guy is the most likely perpetrator - he's going by his gut instinct - but there was a point that he should have stepped back after some of the evidence was looked over (the fact that it was a girls laptop and Sean kept telling them they were her pictures) Martha chewing him out was well timed. I think for the most part she lets him slide because he's good at his job, has good instincts, but in this case she was level headed enough and removed enough from the case to recongize that Jack was getting too involved and needed to pull him back a bit.

not the first time she's told him to go read the manual. (in the rape case she says something like "this is day one stuff.")

I loved Martha's dressing down of Jack...it was perfect - well done Fay!! In this ep she totally took control of her character. It was the first time she really seemed in charge
agree with that whimsy.. many times it seems his interview style is borderline, but he does get results. this time he went over the line and Martha was right to pull him up on it. it was well timed for us an an audience too.. because had that gone undealt with, it would have been too unrealistic
