Scene 40 (29.13 - 29.31)
Martha and Jack interview Max (solicitor present) Jack asks him about Thailand, the £2,000 from Jason and "are you a paedophile?" but Max responds only with "no comment."
he also seemed to have a point to prove.. ? he wanted to be right.. the way he presented the evidence about Sean being seen leaving house.. he was so invested in it
yeah it felt like he was trying to redeem himself.

I think as soon as the registered sex offender came into the picture Jack was finally able to get past Sean.

there are a lot of scenes in this bit, but the overall theme is that the investigation shifts on to the brothers Matt and Jason and then a grooming gang.
I must confess, despite him looking all lovely in his green jumper and jeans and his magnetising barely contained intensity... I was annoyed with jack at this point. All that attitude to Sean and now the evidence goes in another direction and it is like he doesnt blink! Also really annoyed when he said rather dismissively didnt understand why Anna didn't give the names of her attackers, showing a lack of sensitivity to the young girl and the level of victimisation she went thgough.

That bothered me too Domino. Dog and bone again I guess.

agree with your comments domino. as emotionally acute as he is, he doesn't understand how victims, particularly women who've been sexually assaulted, will draw in. They might seem uncooperative to him, because his number one priority is getting the guy(s) responsible. But he doesn't see that it's a defense mechanism by victims. This is something he needs to learn/work on.

but despite being insensitve on the surface... Jack's level of passion on this case demonstrates how much he cares and how deeply he feels it! jsut his surface behaviour makes that harder to see
well he didn't look at the camera on purpose in this episode for sure. I wonder if he was uncomfortable after being dressed down. Not so much sass in this episode. mostly seething intensity.

absolutely domino! it's because he cares that he pursues it so passionately. He just doesn't have the best bedside manner, so to speak.

Hmm...I do find it a bit difficult to decide - he seems to get so emotionally involved but it does seem sometimes that he focusses on the crime and finding the guilty party and almost tries to ignore the fact that there is a victim....maybe he finds that makes it too difficult to concentrate on his job...
fifi, maybe a way of compartmentalizing it? dealing with all this bad stuff day in and day out... you gotta distance yourself.
