I noticed that too!, Fay Ripley gets a nomination but Damien is overlooked....again (it seems to be a trend with him and this magazine...twice overlooked for Being Human, overlooked again for Ripper Street and now this? (I fear a 'red shield' speech coming on... ;) )
Also noticed Jerome Flynn was also overlooked, which i suppose, no disrespect to the actors listed, (there are some huge talents in there) but it goes to show the calibre of this tv guide magazine to be honest...
grrrr to overlooking Damien (and Jerome for that matter)
It was a tough decision because on first impression I didn't think she did a good job, and it rankles that Damien got over looked while "celebrity" Fay got nominated, but I did vote for Fay on best actress. For two reasons. First of all, any attention to Suspects would be welcome. Damien has a tangential benefit on that. and second, after a few rewatches I started seeing the show and the performances differently, and by Ep 5 I felt that Fay had lived up to her potential, Martha in Ep 5 owned it and I'm sure that the performances will only get better. And actually a 3rd reason. The show is unscripted. I think just for taking on that type of format and making it work they should get recognized.

Delighted to see Suspects represented in the Best New Drama category, it so deserves it...'new' in all senses of the word -innovative for the genre as well as drama in general!
I am in agreement with you all, it is baffling, and annoying, Damien is not nominated, but pleasing to see Fay there and totally voted for her in the Best Actress category for Suspects!
Hope you are all voting!
Yes, sadly Damien has been overlooked which is bewildering, but by supporting Suspects and Ripper Street we are showing our support for him and the characters he has brought to life!

With Sherlock and Downton Abbey in the running it is almost an inevitability that Ripper Street wouldn't get a look in in the Best Drama category. SO boring to see the same old shows getting the attention in awards though!
I am more disappointed for Suspects in the Best New Drama category... the others are BBC prime time shows so it's not an even playing field and no reflection on the quality of the show. It so deserves to be recognised!
Shame! But yes - predictable! I didn't really think that Suspects had much chance against the big audence BBC shows - but I'm a bit disappointed about Ripper Street.....
Yes, it's utterly boring when the same old shows are always noticed, no matter how brilliant they are, new ones should even have a change. I'm very disappointed for Suspects too...
This only means that us, fans of Suspects and Ripper Street, need to be more active and let our favorite shows to get noticed! They deserve it!
Especially Suspects need to get recognised cause it's so new show (Ripper Street have been noticed quite well). But when I was at the Suspects set, people didn't know what was going on. I have to explain to many people that they are filming Suspects and no one did know that show. One man recognised Fay, but that was it.
This have to change, obviously

Oh that is disappointing! I guess we realised that Suspects would be a bit of a long shot considering it is new, on Channel 5 and was reduced to 5 episodes. It was great that it got a mention at all really. Hopefully Channel 5 will create more of a buzz about series 2 and 3.
It always amazes me that more people don't get the sheer genius and quality of Ripper Street. I guess the change of day it was broadcast didn't help and it is perhaps a little too intelligent and 'specialist' for mass viewers.
I guess we need to take comfort from the fact that the shortlist is no real reflection on the quality of Suspects, Ripper Street or on Damien's performances. These are the awards for just one tv listings magazine, a magazine most notable for the fact it costs only 45p and is full of soap opera gossip (does that sound suspiciously like sour grapes?!).
On the plus side, this has been a great excuse for domino to post some excellent gifs which made me smile a lot!
Always the well known ones get voted for. I honestly don't get the draw of Downton Abbey, though admit I haven't seen it. But it sounds boring...
We can only hope Suspects is going to grow. The production upped the ante with more "known" actors guest appearances. And the tweeting of behind the scenes. Now it's up to Channel 5 not to eff things up and give it good promo! They did well with the S1 promos. And media to cover it and not give up like last time...
