I've been addicted to 2048 for a while now. This adds a little difficulty due to having to remember the order of the gifs, but that helps me out, since I was just starting to get burned out on the game.

Thanks for making it fresh, and hot, again, fifi!

Oh, and just played once so far, but got 13216. :D

I don't do games, I've never been good at strategy, seeing my moves ahead of time, understanding the whole picture kind of thing...

I gave this a whirl and was so lost!  I got 2836, I think I was at level 5 or 6 based on the different tiles.  My screen didn't show the score & level, I only know the score cuz I told it to tweet it.

I suck! LMAO

So any pointers from anyone?

I am 100% sure this is the greatest thing the internet has ever given me.

The main pointer is to not let a lower level tile get stuck under higher level tiles as much as possible.  If you let that happen the game gets over fast.  The good thing is there is no rush.  The game doesn't force you to make time related errors.  You can take your time to plan out your moves.  The bad thing is that it will still force you into errors and there isn't a whole lot you can do about that but try to plan the best you can to minimize the effect of the forced errors.

My style of play is to try to keep things cleared out as much as possible to allow space to maneuver and to try not to let lower level tiles get stuck under higher level tiles.  I also work down and to the side and don't move the tiles up as a whole any more than absolutely necessary because I lose my plan of attack that way for some reason.

I don't know if that helps at all or makes any sense.

Also, luck and OCD helps. wink

Thanks Domino.  I played a bit of chess as a kid but only very casually, and I couldn't tell you how to do it now.  It helps that my boyfriend is quite the gamer so I have played lots of card and board games that require planning and strategy, and a bit of MMORPG (Lord of the Rings Online)...not that I'm all that good at that.

Mostly I just got obsessed.   You'll get it if you keep trying, Domino.  I was stuck on lvl 10 forever and was about to give up myself.

I agree with RandomJane. When I first started playing 2048, it took me ages to get a 2048. Now I get them routinely, but am still stuck getting the 4096 and higher. (Though last night I actually beat my high score - stuck with a 2048 and a 1024 again, but can't get that second 2048 to jump up again, dang it!) It comes with time and practice and a little OCD-ish-ness, but there is a bit of a trick to it, too.

I stopped playing the Hal version once I beat it once because you can't keep going. It's fun to watch the GIFs, but then it was over, so... *shrug* Back to regular number for me.

I can't explain how I play it, but it helps me a lot to follow a pattern. I keep all my high tiles on the bottom and work across them in the next line up to match them. Like I said, hard to explain in words, but I know there are a million vids out there on how to beat 2048. I haven't watched any, but I'm sure they'd help explain better than I could. ;)

You aced it too wabbit? you guys are gamer pros!

Still not there Jane, but thank you for the encouragement, it's not a chore trying though... seeing these GIFs over and over again could never grow old... it is like a magical and pretty Hal journey through Being Human!

(topic moved to Being Human section for better placement)

Yep, but I've been playing it for months, so...

If you're having a hard time "beating" the Hal one, try the regular one. The Hal version is somewhat harder due to having to remember the order of the gifs. With actual numbers, it is a little easier to keep straight.

And you can keep going and going and going...yeah, it's addictive.

believe me I have no trouble remembering the order of the GIFs wabbit... they are imprinted in my brain.. maybe that's the problem... such a distraction!
fifi, I am not sure if I want to hug you or hate you (could never) for introducing us to this game!

Sorry!!

I think this topic is probably the natural home for this game....for me, at least, it's definatly more about Hal than the game!!  I think I just lack that competitive spirit cos now that I know what all of the gifs are I've completely given up on trying to achieve anything other than look at the pretty gifs!  Definately the best distraction ever!!

I wish there was another level. Now that I've beaten it I haven't been in the mood to play.  I may go back to it at some point though. I miss looking at the Hal gifs.

Yay! congrats  I knew you would eventually get it if you stuck with it.  And that is a lot of room to spare.
