These videos from MissionX give a good idea of the work they do and the military training they give to actors - perhaps a little clue into how things were for Damien in Jordan. the people training him and the other actors and the environment.
domino, that was an excellent insight into the work done by Mission X. So exciting to see the possibilities! Though I hope Damo isn't getting beat up in his movie!

I was having trouble translating the training element with how that fits into a film, this opens up the possibilities and shows how military training can help in an action movie, not just a straight up war movie....
and that CK guy, he's really Harrison Ford... right?
This video on the MissionX FB page shows the training facility in Amman Jordan... maybe where Damien did his training / filming? Or atleast gives an idea of the kind of terrain in that part of the world!
I have been watching these clips and you're right domino, it gives good insight what Damien might have been filming/training!
Well, it's obvious that he had some training for this (his tweets reveal that he had at least training with professional boxer), if he is acting as a soldier. There are lots of little things that will reveal are you professional soldier with a training and army experience or just a amateur. And I'm little bit jealous cause that looks really awesome training area! it would be amazing experience to have a change to test your limits and skills in there. Damien you lucky little you....
I have to admit I'm getting more and more excited about this film! As I have military background myself, I can't believe I will be seeing Damien in action! (My imagination is really flowing with possibilities)
And I hope this film will also bring more real picture what is going on this world today, so good job for Damien taking part in this kind of project which I'm sure will be an eyeopener too!
With your military experience it will be great to have your insights on Damien's new project when it comes out Jozie.
Good point, military films are not just on one track ...there are a number of possibles it could be... something with a humanitarian message, an action film, an international thriller, a sci fif film with military elements, (like Monsters Dark Continent which MissionX was also involved in) Not necessarily a representational 'war film'.
Yes Damien definitely had the training, but I just needed to point out that these videos are general MissionX ones, not specifically about his project... so we can only speculate that it is the same place/ kind of training.
Just wanted to share this lovely picture tweeted by the championship boxer that kicked Damien's arse in training.
My guess is this was a wrap/goodbye party, as it was posted the same night as his 'that's a wrap' tweets. Hadn't realized it did not get shared here. So sorry.
Also, miss domino shared some speculation with me today. The men are hairy & beardy in this photo and in the gym photo. If they were in a military movie, would they not have military cuts and be clean shaven? Discuss...

Thank you for posting Miss whimsy! You quite made my day when you pointed out this photo, cannot believe I missed it! Such a happy photo
I'm guessing the other beardy guy is Brian Gleeson?
Yes I had a eureka moment yesterday about the concept of a war movie, I have never seen one with a soldier who doesn't have a crew cut. But I have seen other genre movies, like sci fi, where there are military elements and the hair is still all there.
However, today I have had further thoughts, do personel higher up the military ranks have crew cuts? Or maybe it is a period war movie and he's playing an officer or something ? Or.. Maybe they were training only in Jordan and filming elsewhere? No hang on..there was def filming taking place or Damien would not have posted on Twitter that they had "wrapped".
Well, in my country, those who are working on military usually have their crew cuts all the time. Also new arrivals have to have crew cuts all the time. But, peacekeepers and those in provincial troops, doesn't have cause their military experience is only temporary. If there is a health risk, then you have to cut but usually no. In my knowledge, these soldiers are on gig (peacekeeping or something else) in another country, so it's very natural they have kept their hairs and beards.

Jozie and fifi, yes exactly...the initial FB post from MissionX was very specific: "War film". There were mentions here of Damo playing a soldier... My point is, it cannot be a straight up soldier in the army ..but possibly one of the things you have mentioned. It does open up the possibilities and clarifies that.
As I mentioned before.. Could it also be possible there is more filming to come? We may yet see Damo with a crew cut!
Special Forces often have beards, long hair, etc, so they don't look like military. or they could be mercenaries. PMCs personnel probably expect a tidier appearance - unless they do Special Forces type work.

yes UJ,, and such an exciting thought! not that there is anything wrong with portraying a 'regular' soldier, whatsoever... but a special forces / intelligence mission... highly trained ... eep!
Yay Su! Nice of the Mission X peeps to reply to you. They seem like a cool bunch.
Exciting to get tidbits.

Brilliant su! Thanks for sharing that - as whimsy said it's good to get these tidbits.....another breadcrumb in the trail! Reckon you're right, domino - it certainly seems likely to be a war film....
