Agree with you, Jack knew Saul's condition very well because of his personal experience in family, so, it explain why he acted so gently while interview but, how to i put this, judging behind the doors.
Agree with that too Jozie, in scene 13 he calls it a 'free for all' his mind seems made up - as he gazes off into the distance at the end of that scene (brilliant) he seems almost a little bit irrational himself? I cannot think of the word... but it is more than his usual dog with a bone manner!
I guess I'm the only one that didn't find it odd that Jack was pursuing Saul so doggedly. It's his usual way of doing things. He's been rattled before. Perhaps it was the fact that articles ahead of time mentioned this case "would be personal".

Martha, Jack and Charlie are in the main office, Jack reports that TIU have got Jonathan's phone records, there is nothing major on there, except for one particular voicemail, which he plays to them. The voicemail is a man who has Jonathan's laptop and appears to blackmail him, that he would not want his wife to see its contents. The voicemail comes from a caller listed in Jonathan's phone as 'M'.
Scene 18 ( 14.22 - 14.37 )
Jack has traced the number of Jonathan's phone to Mick Shaw, who has previously been in prison for 8 years for a nasty burglary. "Bring him in Jack."
Scene 19 ( 14.38 - 15.12 )
Jack and Charlie drive to Mick Shaw's house and meet him on the street, where Charlie arrests him on suspicion of blackmail.
Scene 20 ( 15.13 - 15.52 )
(Footage of Jack bringing Mick to the front desk as recording of the voice message is played in the interview room).
In an interview room Jack and Charlie question Mick (solicitor present) on the voicemail and his attempt at blackmail. Mick is evasive and responds with "no comment".
Scene 21 ( 15.53 - 15.59 )
Jack asks Julie at the front desk for Mick Shaw's belongings.
"Have you done something with your hair?"
Scene 22 ( 16.00 - 16.18 )
Jack and Charlie are in the corridor as Jack goes through Mick's possessions. He finds a left luggage ticket from a train station from yesterday.
Scene 23 ( 16.19 - 17.22 )
Jack is back in the interview room with Mick and his solicitor. Jonathan's laptop was found in Mick's locker at the station.
JW: I bet your finger marks are all fucking over this, and your DNA..
But Mick isn't giving anything away.
JW: We'll have a look through it, see what we can find. That's ok with you is it?... sit tight.
These scenes are largely the Mick Shaw arrest and interviews. Jack showing his experience in the force, knowing this guy from previous and the whole exchange in the street, that confidence again
Despite Jack's insistence that Saul is guilty...he questions Mick as though he is totally a suspect. He treats him as though he is more guity than the way he treats Saul...
Ah, I love how Jack deals with Mick. Mick is just a sleezeball altogether. Jack doesn't take any of his crap. We see sassy Jack in the interview room - I think this is where he says "no comment" and Jack says "I love that answer." with a smile.
And the flirty, "Have you done something with your hair" with a sassy smile too. LOVED IT.

Mick Was biiig question mark for me until I connected him in this case. He wasn't so much in this ep but he was keylink in this case. I like when sometimes people in these shows appear shortly but are the ones you remember best after.
yeah clever Suspects Rosie - ramp up the tension then throw us off somewhere
Not only does the whole Mick thing detract from Saul, but we also don't know if Jack is shifting his fixation away from Saul with this new evidence of not. (we find out later of course but during these scenes, there is that tension)
Jack cannot go to that front desk without being naughty!
and what a flirt!! (is this his easy charm we have heard about?)
"Have you done something with your hair?"
oh no Jane. are you saying it wont refresh or wont let you post?
