I felt a little uncomfortable with the way Martha tells Charlie about Jack's family. I don't think it was her place to say anything, especially as she told Charlie in the first episode that it was none of her business. She didn't come across as very compassionate.

we do find out in the scene after (when Martha and Charlie talk o the rooftop) exactly what Jack's family history is.... heartbreaking.
did that change anyone's perspective on Jack's behaviour?

Know what you mean Rosie....but I did kinda think her rather perfunctory way of telling Charlie was because she wasn't very comfortable sharing the personal info..but felt it needed to be done

I guess Martha was trying to give Jack time to tell Charlie but when didn't she felt she needed to know.  I didn't agree with it though.  I think Martha should have gone to Jack and suggested he open up to Charlie.

agree Rosie, I did too. It felt just a tiny bit too flippantly said somehow. Charlie's reaction was not flippant however

It didn't change my perception Domino because I figured it was something like that anyway. Had I not had any idea bout his past at this point then it might have.

I think the audience had pretty much guessed the outline of what Martha told Charlie by this time, so no - it didn't really change my perspective, it was just confirmation of the details...

I felt it was something like this, but not the attack on his mother, or the suicide of his brother. so tragic.

I was surprised about the suicide.  I just figured he severed all contact with the family member.

The tea making scene was a bit of light relief in the midst of it all.... a new part of the set to see our detectives in

Martha was blunt, but that didn't allow any emotionalism. Businesslike. Not something to dwell on, just something Charlie needed to know. I thought it suited her character.

MB: How's Saul's state of mind?

JW: Disastrous. He's been handcuffed,he's been detained,he's in tears, he can't remember what he's doing. He thinks he's killed Michael Collins.

MB: Got a psychiatrist coming in?

JW: She's with him now

MB: OK. So the plan for the interview, just talk me through it.

JW: Approach as normal. He's a vulnerable adult, I respect that, I appreciate that and I know how to deal with him. We start with him, you know, attacking Sadie yesterday.

MB: OK, I'm coming in with you. It's not a hand-holding thing..Just stakes are very high for me...

JW: For F***'s sake.

MB: ..And for you, as a knock-on effect, Jack, obviously.

JW: Yeah. OK.

Scene 37 ( 24.03  - 24.32 )

Martha is in a bit of a tricky position with jack here. It is a high profile case, and Saul is a vulnerable adult and she has concerns for how Jack has been during this case... so I understand her needing to check things out with him.. but also understand how jack would feel irked by that.

Also doesn't feel as if Jack realises the impact he is having on the team, or quite how affected he is by the case?

Interesting thought fifi.  I just assumed the cage was more convenient to wherever he was in the building when the mood struck.

Jack continues to treat Saul more compassionately. Not sure if this is because Martha is there. Saul is heartbreaking again.

I started to wonder a bit about Sadie in scene 29.  I wasn't sure what was off but something seemed a bit off.

Was anyone else asking themselves what role Sadie had in the house?
