We are thrilled to share the exciting news that Damien is the narrator of upcoming audio book ‘Raven’, announced byFantom Filmstoday.
The audio book is a novelisation of the 1977 classic children’s TV series by actor / writers Jeremy Burnham and Trevor Ray, and will be released on CD and as a download this December.
Trevor Ray is best known for writing onDoctor Whoin 1969/70 and Jeremy Burnham for 1968/69 cult TV classicThe Avengers(in which he also appeared) andInspector Morse.
A brief synopsis ofRavenis given on the fantom films website.
The ancient underground caves were in danger — they were going to be filled with atomic waste. But forces were at work to save the sacred ground — forces from another time.
Why did the caves contain mysterious symbols and how did the legend of King Arthur connect with them? What power did Professor Young, the archaeologist have to save the cave complex? And why did the Merlin suddenly appear?
Raven, on probation from Borstal, found himself caught up with these strange powers, and began to realise that the future of the caves depended on him…
Having given readings forWordTheatresince 2012 and performed in severalradioroles, most recently appearing as the actor reader on a‘Poetry Please’ Yeats Special, it was only a matter of time before Damien’s much admired voice talent found its outlet in audio books.
We couldn’t happier, and hope it is the first of many!
The CD has 5 discs in total and is available for pre-order now. Clickhereto order for a special lower price until 23 October.
We always said we'd listen to him read the phone book... EVEN BETTER!!!!!!
OMG, I'm so excited! When I read "children's book" for some reason I pictured something short. But it sounds like a bit of young adult magic fantasy (who doesn't like that) and 5 CD's! That should be at least 5 hours of audio, up to 6 if the format is on regular CD's! 5ish hours of Mr. M painting pictures in my head. *sigh*

I'm with you both, Jozie and whimsy... my very soul is fist punching the air!
Waited so long for this, and although an audio book was inevitable with Damien's voice talent, the thrill that it is actually happening... sqquuuueeeee!
p.s, I knocked up that article on the fansite quickly, please let me know if you spot any typos, errors.. thanks!
domino, all your links work and I don't see typos.

Oh yes! We've been talking about this for such a long time - fantastic news. And yes....5 CDs has got to be at least 5 hrs of audio. Sounds good to me! Happy Christmas everyone!!
Yes, better than phonebook Whimsy! And happy Christmas everyone! Best x-mas present for myself this year. It almost seems that Damien is reading this forum and answering our prayers!
domino, the article is just fine (but I do understand the haste to get it here, all the excitement made me hold my breath while I readed this!)
I've ordered my copy!
It says it's a December release so I'll call it a birthday/christmas present to myself depending upon when it arrives.
That's a good enough reason as any to buy.

Jozie, there is just that excerpt of Poe's 'The Raven' before the prologue in the book Damien will be reading. Some audio boks include the prologue, some don't - we will have to wait and see!
I admire your restraint fifi! I'd forgo food, clothiing, anything else to get my hands on this asap!
Amazon has the book listed at a release date of 1 December.... not long at all now then! (I'd recommend buying direct from Fantom Films though.)
Believe me restraint has nothing to do with it and my family get strangely stroppy if I don't feed them. I need to prioritise my damo expenditure and as this isn't released until December anyway hopefully I won't have to wait too long.....

Sorry fifi I was being tongue in cheek, it was not my intention to upset you. The special pre order lower price offer has ended now anyway, but I hope somehow you can get a copy before Christmas.
No worries, domino. I'm not upset.. I will get to see Damien on stage in Feb. And with potentially 5hrs worth of dvd...and 5hrs (ish) of cd to look forward to it's shaping up to be a very happy, damotastic Christmas!
Since pre-ordering it would mean I'd get it later due to ship times, I decided to wait for the download option even if it costs full price. I don't want to delay my Damo-enjoyment.
