I've mentioned a few times on the forum how I have a Damien Molony based reward system to motivate me to study towards my Masters degree. Which got me thinking about other ways Damien inspires me.

I always admire people who have worked hard and taken risks to achieve their dreams, and who have not let set-backs set them back.  Damien is a great example of this. He reminds me that achieving your dreams doesn't (and shouldn't) fall into your lap.  If you want something you have to go out and make it happen for yourself.

Would anyone else like to share how Damien inspires or motivates them? I'd love to hear your thoughts :)

Great new topic Rosie! aww

I think Damien and his work has inspired and motivated me in few ways.

First I think of my first trip outside Skandinavia to London. Without Damien, this forum and people here I don't think I could have done it. Travelling alone first time in my life and go further that I have ever gone before was big step for me. But so many people from here were encouraging to make my dreams to become true. Reading your stories about meeting him made it lot more easier for me go and talk to him.

Then I was thinking some of the fan art I made, Damien's work have been playing a great part to bring out my artistic side.

Then I was thinking about my poems, lots of new ideas came in my mind inspired by Damien's work.

After meeting Damien first time I have been motivated to go and talk to people that I wouldn't normally go to talk. Few months back when Sacha Dhawan walked in to same restaurant I thought that if I managed to go and say hi to Damien this shouldn't be problem. And he was super lovely and I'm glad I did it.

Meeting Damien gave me courage to go and talk strange people who don't know me and have no connection to me what so ever. I'll always of course think about if it is good moment and idea to go and talk (depends in what circumstances I meet people) but I know it can't ever be as half as exiting than meeting Damien so I can do it.

So, I think people here has motivated me to do things I wouldn't have done. Damien's work inspired my artistic work. And then meeting Damien himself have encourage me to meet and greet people I don't personally know.

Feels like he has influence of my decisions, like his restaurant tweets determine which restaurants I should try in London. And donating blood, well I'm lazy when it comes to donating blood but he surely has inspired me to donate more. And maybe next time I will tweet about itwink

What about exercise? Damien reminds you to take care of yourself, he tweets about it which personally motivates me to go and exercise. I feel competitive a little, I can't quite explain it but I feel lazy if he tweets about his exercise sessions and I haven't done anything that day biggrin

I admire him and his work very much and I'm sure he will motivate me in many ways in the futuresmile

Thanks Jozie!

Thanks for sharing how Damien inspires and motivate you. I'm so glad that Damien has inspired you to travel and to meet new people :) Travelling on your own is such a valuable experience. The first time I travelled on my own I was 18 and flew to New Zealand despite never having been on a plane before! It was life changing!

It's also great to hear that Damien has inspired your creative side with your art and poetry. Damien's portrayal of Flight inspired me to write fan fiction which I really enjoy. I always used to write stories as a child until real life got in the way as an adult. It's always a joy to rediscover something that you love! This has helped to convince me that writing, whether it be journalism or fiction, is something I want to do for a living.

I agree about blood donation. I've donated blood in the past and keep thinking I need to go back again, so every time I see Damien tweet about it it reminds me to get my courage up to go.

As much as I admire Damien, there really isn't anything that would persuade me to do exercise!!

Great topic Rosie and lovely to read your and Jozie's posts. It sounds like his creativity sparked your own, which in turn has inspired us all!

For me first and foremost it has to be the obvious... Damien inspired me to connect with others who admired his work... to create a forum... then a website... a place for fans all over the world to celebrate his talents, a place to come together over our shared passion for his various projects and characters.

I have never created a website before so I learnt new skills in building it and am still learning (that's why it's not perfect!).

He continues to inspire and is the motivation for the whole DMF online 'empire'!

Damien's campaign for blood donation has inspired me to help raise awareness of its importance, not being able to donate myself left me feeling helpless but rather than feeling sorry for myself or bemoaning the fact, he inspired me to encourage others via the sites and social networks. I have also been personally inspired by Damien's charitable things, the triathlon and smile for starlight.

Surely the characters that Damien brings to life have all individually inspired us too?

Hal is a huge inspiration to me 'You can do this' .. I still carry my double one domino (for different reasons to Hal obvs!)

I wonder if Damien knows that he has inspired new friendships, new skills, new experiences...?

That's a great question Rosie! I would hope so, but he is a modest man and would probably credit the projects he has been in, and their creators..not just his characters, or himself. But I certainly hope some of that reflects directly back to him, his talent and undeniable Molony Magic.

I hope he would be pleased but I agree that his modesty would prevent him from taking too muchof the credit!

It's just wonderful for me to know that people I have got to know through the forum have found their lives richer forDamien being part of it :) I know that my life feels richer for being part of the forum :)

I really love and appreciate the forum too... Guess friendships are built on things that friends can share in common... Which makes the forum a very friendly place....
