Hollywood can't get enough of our British men at the moment: Oscars, big budget film franchises and lucrative modelling contracts - these men are bagging all the best roles.
Damien Molony
Who: Damien Molony was born in Ireland but is now based in London. You might recognise him from BBC 2013 drama series Ripper Street, or as vampire Hal in BBC3 series Being Human.
If Glamour are using Hollywood just to mean America in general then there is The Devil You Know but I agree that Kill Your Friends and Tiger Raid don't seem like Hollywood films to me
Happy to see more exposure for Damien! But I agree that can't possibly be a ranked list. The photo they used wouldn't be my first choice, but he hasn't exactly made many public "red carpet" appearances, which is clearly the vibe they were going for/have permission to use. What they chose to say about each actor and which projects they highlighted are a bit confounding. There are some movies/shows some of the actors are more known for that they didn't even mention. If Hollywood appearances is the crirlteria, he really doesn't belong on this list, unless as Rosie says, there's something we don't know about. But the fact that he Is on this list is fantastic!

It's always lovely to see Damien listed in this type of feature....and rightly so!! There are a lot of things which are odd about this list. And I'm not convinced it's supposed to be a 'countdown' list either, but the fact that he's number 4 is excellent - I'm surely not the only one who gets bored after looking at the first half dozen or so and never knows who is further down......
Ranked or not, it is still good to see Damien's name appearing AND early on. As a hugely talented actor he every bit deserves to be there and it riles me how often he is excluded on lists such as these.. when the usual names always are.
And it has dawned on me... of course he's already been on the big Hollywood screen, in 'Travelling Light' and 'The Hard Problem'!
Those two shows Ripper Street & Being Human are shows that more Americans might have seen since they are BBC shows and were aired on BBC America. That makes sense to me. The few blurbs I read for the other actors seemed to focus on what you might have seen them in and not what future things you may see them in.
I agree that it's great that he appears early on before people get bored with the slide show even if the list is not a ranked list.
It's fantastic that he made the list. Please invade America, Damien!

Jane, you may well be in luck if HBO gives 'The Devil You Know' the go ahead!
(I'm very hopeful they will.)
We are more than ready and willing for this. ahem.

The Devil You Know just sounds too amazing not to be greenlit !
As much as I love that Damien is getting well deserved recognition I can't help feeling a little bit sad too. I do enjoy telling people that I'm a fan of Damien Molony and people having no idea who I'm talking about. It makes him feel more ' special ' !
So lovely to see America hyping about Damien and he might be number 4 on the magazine list but he has always been number 1 for us!
And like you said domino, I like that fact that Damien is appearing "early" on, when people see his work on screen when the Tiger Raid and Kill Your Friends airs they remember his face already on the magazines....
Damien is fresh, new and exciting. We have already seen and hyped about Cumberbatch, Hiddleston, Harington, Aidan Turner etc... People like new faces and even he is not new news for us it is to many, and the fact he is incredibly talented is something people will notice. He impress people over and over again, surprises older fans who think we have seen pretty much. I think we will have more Damien on the news after Tiger Raid and Kill Your Friends...
I would like the fact that more people would know him more, even here. Makes me sad when I start to talk about actors and of course I mention Damien and they don't know who he is and that pretty much ends the conversation. But I have this forum so I'm doing ok

Playing devils advocate, the article was written in Glamour UK not in Glamour US. So I'm not sure about the extensivity of this article. Don't get me wrong, I'm ABSOLUTELY THRILLED he is on the list, and even if it isn't by rank of recognition, so glad he was placed high up where more people are likely to see him rather than as some of you pointed out, give up on the list of the usual suspects. However, I would venture to say Benedict Cumberbatch and Kit Harrington have become a household names here, as a handful of others on this list, and some like Aidan Turner are definitely rising in recognition thanks mostly in part to mainstream Hollywood movies they've been in. But sadly Damien is still unknown, even with Being Human fans. The problem is that so many quit watching after Mitchell was killed off. So they might remember Aidan, but never have gotten the pleasure of seeing Damien's work. Damien in Ripper Street might have snagged some more fans, but for the most part it's going to take something high profile like a mainstream movie or an HBO show to get Damien recognition over here. I too am torn about it Rosie, on the one hand he does feel "special", and it's thrilling to be a fan of someone so talented before he catapults to stardom, but like Jozie, it's frustrating/sad to have him be such a "well kept secret". I am itching for the world to discover him, to be able to go on Facebook where all my "Real Life" family and friends are and go SEE, WHAT DID I TELL YA!!!"
My stomach is in knots when I think about The Devil You Know. Seeing the trend of what recent shows have been greenlit, I worry once again he's going into a project that is too "niche". Hard to tell what the tone/genre is, if it will be supernaturally inclined like many of the "witch" programmes recently, or if it will be more historical drama, or if it will be darkly satirical, as has become very popular. I can only hope they will want to broaden the variety of programming and commission it!
Kill Your Friends also has my stomach in knots. Also not a very mainstream sort of concept, and could be very "British", if you know what I mean. (if American's can't even understand the accent they are put off) but it could gain a success with "cult" audiences and anglophiles.
Tiger Raid. Well, that one I have so many hopes for! The other leads have recently been in movies that most movie goers would recognize. Just waiting/praying for it to screen widely over here.
I feel wrung out with anxiety sometimes thinking of Damien's career! I love that he picks interesting/unusual characters and projects, but sometimes I wish he'd hurry up and get popular so that I can see him in more things and that the world could know how awesome he is.
sorry, I think I went on a big tangent here...

I'm ready for Damien's American invasion. Can't wait! I've said, "Trust me, I know what I'm talking about, this guy is amazing!" to enough people. I'm ready to start saying, "See? I told you he's amazing!" to a few more of them.
