TJ, absolutely! Damien transforms himself so completely for his characters and roles, including the physicality, not just appearance, but expression.
Having done quite a good job at blocking out the specifics of the Ross scenes in the book so I can come to the film (almost) fresh, since the trailer I am actually resisting the urge to re read the book to see what the 'face' scene may be!
The whole idea of the comedy side to this film is more than a bit exciting. The trailer shows how well that is going to work in translation from the book to the film. Damien + dark comedy = THRILLING!
Aradia, this should be right up your street then!
'counting down the days' : Oh yes, we need a new countdown counter, thanks for the inspiration!
I'm not going to read the book again until after I've seen the film. Then I may go back and see what's different. I want to keep the two separate in my head, and for now the book is a bit foggy in detail in places, so I won't go 'Oh crap, why did they do that?' when I see the film.

I've got to admit I'm hanging on by my fingernails, the pull is strong to at least delve! (Into the book).
Sorry if someone's mentioned this already in this trailer topic, but is anyone else utterly delighted that Damien's famous dance moves - described by Georgia King as "comedy gold" way back when we first heard about his casting in KYF - appear to have made it into the film?
I'm delighted! The dance moves have been a big question mark in my head, so I'm interested to see what he does. He certainly 'throws himself' into a character. Let's hope nobody gets hurt.

I've never read the book - hadn't actually heard of it until the film was announced. Is it recommended? Usually I like to read the book before the film, but sometimes it's better to avoid spoilers.

TJ... the actual content of the dance moves! the moves themselves! Oh. My. GOD, It's almost too much to contemplate!
Aradia - YAY! and only just over a week until TIFF if anyone can get to a screening for that, tickets are on sale soon!
Re the book, yes it is highly recommended but it's down to personal choice if you want to see the film completely fresh, without knowing the plot. From all accounts the film is faithful to the book so there will be spoilers! Having said that... this trailer is actually pretty spoilerish as far as the main character Stelfox (Nic Hoult) is concerned, and one major plot point!
Domino he isn't in the first pic at all. And in the second one, I believe he's the one spitting into the air. In that scene the camera changes so fast showing them partying in the dark crowd that it was a bit hard to make them out clearly.

Thank you, whimsy. Really surprised about the second one, was convinced it was the same shirt... and the top one the jacket. But now I think about it, no sideburns.
Re the clips, I am relieved... to see how well it translates.. the scene in that second Allocine clip is even more hilarious than the book!
The top one I'm 110% sure. That's one of the band members of The Lazies that you see Stelfox trying (and failing miserably) to wine & dine in the clip.
2nd one there's a slight chance I'm wrong. They just flashed through showing them in the crowd so fast that now I'm not 100% sure I remember right. Someone will have to corroborate when it comes out in a couple weeks.

Yes the humor translated exceedingly well. Funnier than the book most of the time. That's why I liked it overall. When I read the book I was a bit sick to my stomach at how screwed up Stelfox is. But as I said in the other topic, some of the worst things are toned down. And it's in the way things are shot. His actions mostly come across as comical. Except for the murdery bits, obviously.
