Oh I'd noticed the quality of the YT video is really low so I'd only watched the Deadline clip.
Yes Rosie. The tongue move did not escape my notice.

Rosie, there's also something in the way he tilts his head to crack his neck that fascinates me. Like Hal's head tilt.
Ellie, it's always but the eyes...

Yes! Yes! Yes! Damien is mesmerising, the photography is stunning, the soundtrack is subtley compelling.... I have watched this so many times and I just have to keep watching it one more time. I agree with rosie that not quite being able to hear what's being said on the radio adds to the tension.....
The assault rifle Damien has is in this clip the latest model of M4 (not civil version, the real deal). In case anyone wonders. Probably notI was worried if they will use fake guns or something in this film and what was really surprising was that they were that version Damien has is actually designed for soldier use and not the version that are modified for civilian use (version that non soldiers/gun collector/other professional people a.k.a normal folk can buy). That doesn't happen in every movie. Oh how many times I've seen fake guns, starter guns etc. in "big" movies and that just puts me off every time. If a "soldier" has a civil version of military designed gun or doesn't know how to handle it like a professional, it just eats the credibility of the movie. No matter how great in other ways the actor is.
And I was worried that how will the actors handle guns in this movie (especially Damien and because Damien is innit). And I just want Damien to look like a professional in this movie. I just want him to be perfect (is it horrible or lovely to hope this?). And it looked good. These can be little things that usually actors fail unless they have been given lots of training. I'm sorry, these are just things I pay attention every time I see a movie because interest me
Aaaaand I have to admit that first time I saw the clip I didn't pay as much attention about this (I didn't want to), I wanted to concentrate to Damien himself and what he says.. And his eyes...
ooh, I am so very glad you posted this Jozie, I've been wondering what your thoughts were on the gun and the portrayal in this clip, you expertise in this area is welcome! I am delighted it all meets with your approval. We know the actors received proper military training from MissionX, so the weapon handling is surely going to be on point. But please don't apologise for this insight on Damien's handling of his weapon, I for one loved reading it !

Oh Whimsy and Rosie I bet Damien will handle his weapon perfectly
Yes domino, I'm very delighted and pleased, renting a real guns (especially military guns) is very expensive and sometimes producers don't wan't to use money on that and then they wonder when some people don't take their movie seriously.
Renting cost depends which gun is it, how many times it is fired (ammo cost) and there is always training before using the gun (that costs too) and constant supervision while guns are handled (so they have to pay that someone is on the set watching that everything is safe and supervise that no dangerous mistakes are made). And lots of law stuff and license stuff on top of that.
I'm really excited about this! Everything is so real in this movie that people will actually fell in to the story while watching it and not paying attention to any technical failures. They will take the movie seriously, the story is credible, the events are plausible and people will feel and live it and remember it and talk about it and in the center of all this is Damien! He can be so proud of his work and his fans even more! Top job.
And for some reason I think Damien is now way hotter than he was before (is that possible?) when I know he knows how to use his weapons.......
Crikey, I feel like I am learning lots reading your posts Jozie, thanks for continuing to share your expertise. I am not sure what proportion of the audience would know as much about guns, but I guess in all films and TV they have to get every minute detail right so not to undermine the realism of their work. As you say, it is absolutely crucial for total immersion in the story - very well said!
Which all makes me realise ...another reason that this clip is so exciting is it is our first look at Damien in the environment as his character, with dialogue and action and it works really well.. really really well! And let's not forget its the first time we have heard his character speak, his accent, his voice!
Thanks jozie! I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference if it was a pellet gun! But I know it can be really distracting if you know something's inaccurate in a film, so it's great to know that they've got it right!
No problem, glad if anyone learned something about guns in movies
Indeed fifi, it's disturbing There are so many things like this that can put you off. Like if the movie is telling something that happened in 2011 and some character is driving a car from 2016 and talking to a phone which is model from 2013, it drops you off.
I think the most expensive gun rent in movie that I know was in one of the Arnold Schwarzenegger movies where the rent cost was 150 dollars per second (in use, one gun) plus rent time/training/law stuff. They use it few minutes in movies but it cost them a fortune.
There are so many interesting stories and facts around movies and guns. Sometimes people will never know how hard it was to get one real gun quickly in to the scene to hold by someone. Can't wait to see what happens in this movie, looks like Damien is going to be in action! Pew pew!
Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the new Damien quote in the light of this clip! It confirms shots are fired in the movie - and by him.....
The first reaction I had to reading that quote was that Damien found it a very immersive experience - that he almost felt like he was living the part. Although I suspect that Damien immerses himself in any part he plays.....and it shows!!
And I suddenly feel very wary of making any comment involving Damien firing his weapon....
