This is not any of the trailers we've seen so far, this video is the entire first 8 minutes of episode 1!
We see inside Jack's house, meet the new cast and watch the first part of the storyline.
So if you want to save the new series until it airs, look away now.
But if you want to watch..click below!
The preview also includes the official episode synopsis:
The series opens with Jack receiving a phone call that makes his blood run cold. Detective Inspector Martha Bellamy has been shot dead in her bed. DCI Daniel Drummond heads the investigation, bringing in Roscoe and Brooks from Major Crimes to help. Drummond warns Charlie not to overstep the mark in their quest to find the killer, but the volatile Jack has no such qualms. Can Charlie keep him under control?
And the new characters gain the same brief descriptive intro as Jack Charlie and Martha originally did:
Charismatic DCI Daniel Drummond (James Murray, Cucumber, Defiance, Primeval), uncompromising DS Alisha Brooks (Lenora Crichlow, Being Human, A to Z) and the street-smart trainee DC Gary Roscoe (Perry Fitzpatrick, Alien Uprising, This Is England) join the regular team
Ohh Ohh!! That seems to be the only noise I can do... Damien looks really nice in checked shirts with white undershirts too... I'm noticing a pattern. I'm calling some screenshots!
No but on a serious note this looks incredible, and I'm so ruddy excited for Series 5.
oh my god oh my god OH MY GOD!!!!! S5 is going to be FREAKIN AMAZING!!!!!
The production value looks top notch, DaMo looks HOT and Lenora has a great start! My tummy is doing flips just with those 8 minutes. Suspects has always been a roller coaster ride in each episode, this is going to ratchet up the intensity even more! Bring on Aug 3rd!!!!

THAT. WAS. INTENSE! I can't wait to see the rest of it, I'm going to miss Martha but this new team is like firecrackers, so much action in that short clip.
As well as the video, the exclusive preview also includes the official episode synopsis:

Jack's place is a lot bigger and better than I thought it would be. So clean, even though the milk was off. Does he have a cleaner, do you think?
How did Jack get blood on his neck?
My thoughts entirely Ellie!
Anyone else look at the artwork on his walls?
Of course.. he could be flat sitting or staying at somone else's place or living with partner / flatmate.. we know next to nothing of his private life
Yep! Me too!! It's not at all what I would've expected Jack's place to look like!!
Clean and tidy doesn't necessarily surprise me - i wouldn't have thought he actually spends much time there...and - as Ellie said - he could have a cleaner! But for the life of me I can't imagine Jack hanging pictures, stacking logs by the fire or tending to a houseplant....or, indeed, paying any attention to the decor in his home at all! Maybe it's a fully furnished rental....maybe that plant is a fake!! It is possible that he lives with somebody else.....but that doesn't fit in with my image of Jack either! Our Jack obviously a man of hidden depths...... Have I thought about this too much??!?
How did he get blood on his neck?!! He didn't appear to touch anything - and he didn't wipe any blood off his hands.....so how did it get on his neck? The fact that Charlie drew attention to it makes me wonder if it will become significant....
I saw the blood smear on his neck and wondered whether it was transfer. I would assume, though we didn't see, that he would've checked for a pulse, even if Martha's injuries were fatal, i suppose he would have to check to be sure, plus there was a lot of blood at the scene.
But good Lord that was an intense eight minutes. The new cast seem to be gelling well from what we saw, the new DCI, Lenora (I kept expecting her to snap 'Hal!' at him a la Annie) and the younger chap whose name escapes me.
I'm really excited for this season now. That was great! It was strange seeing Jack's house. Their personal lives have been largely off limits until now. Does it seem like this season might have more scripted dialogue? Or is it just that they are getting better at improv?

Jack's flat is nowhere near the mental image I had. I agree with fifi, I assumed it would be tidy only because I don't expect he spends much time there. But I expected sparse and bare, like his desk. Not sleek and trendy! I suppose as a millennial he might have a better sense of style than bachelors before him, and places like IKEA can do wonders, or perhaps current or former girlfriend had a hand in it? Not sure if this series will give us more little personal nuggets, but really enjoyed that they gave us this one. Fleshes Jack out a bit more, in an unexpected way! Also, loved his more casual look, disappointed he had to change so quickly. At least last time his clothes had to be forensicated, we were treated to a show...
As for the blood, I assume that is the mystery that will have suspicions cast on Jack. We assume we saw everything that happened when Jack went over, but that's an assumption that will surely be turned on its head as the episode progresses. I'm intrugued and as always so FREAKING EXCITED!!!

Our first look at Jack's flat has certainly caused a lot of excitement! It's one of those golden nuggets! We should examine the clues....
The blood on the neck moment struck me too... perhaps suspicions cast..but then I dismissed it as being too obvious a clue in a trailer to be anything other than from the crime scene. Perhaps they are simply emphasising the emotion of the victim being Martha and him having her blood on his neck... as that scene is him advising Charlie to get on with it. I did wonder if Daisy had touched the blood and it transferred from her when they hugged? But what an EPIC, intriguing preview!
Let's examine the evidence:
He did not have any on his neck when he received the call
But this looks like a smudge of blood after he finds her?
Third photo could be a makeup mistake. Y'know... Forgetting the blood and all haha. Maybe Jack got a little to eager to investigate and started touching things, then scratching his neck/head.. Leaving the blood behind unknown to himself.
Ha! I had a rewatch and noticed that there wasn't any blood before he went back in with the gloves on...and assumed that he must've picked it up then. I hadn't noticed it when he radioed in..... I've been through exactly the same thought process domino! Maybe it was just for the exchange with Charlie to emphasise his professional detachment. We shall see.....in less than a week!!
