No Man’s Land has won the Evening Standard Theatre Award for ‘Best Revival’.
The 62nd London Evening Standard Theatre Awards, recognising excellence from across the world of theatre and beyond, took place at the Old Vic Theatre in London last night and Damien was in attendance.
Currently running at Wyndham’s Theatre in London, No Man’s Land won the best revival award in the face of tough competition and was up against three National Theatre productions in the shortlisted nominations: Les Blancs, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Young Chekhov: Platonov, Ivanov and The Seagull.
Our fave actor took to the stage at the star-studded ceremony to receive the award with Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Patrick Stewart, Owen Teale and Director Sean Mathias.
Dressed in smart suit and dicky bow at the glamorous black tie event, Damien was photographed in esteemed company in front of the winners boards below, with the No Man's Land team and Sir Michael Gambon and Dame Eileen Atkins who presented the award.
How lovely the award was presented by Michael Gambon, who famously played Hirst himself in Rupert Goold's No Man's Land production in 2008 - 9 (with David Walliams as Foster!).
I'm really chuffed for them all that No Man's Land has won an ES award. It confirms the production as one of this years must see events. Damien must be thrilled! And the awards season has only just kicked off....I wonder if it'll pick up any more. It would be amazing if Damien could win a best supporting actor!
Yes, thrilling to see some live footage of the actual event, all smart, smiley and lovely. It was published a week ago, can't believe I missed it! Sir Pat Stew has an extra little moment in the video and I spotted a glimpse of Owen Teale early on and Damien's former theatre cast mate Olivia Vinall (The Hard Problem) looking beautiful as ever.
