Fantastic round up of 2016, domino! 2016 really was the year of DaMo. There was so much going on this year for Damien. It was wonderful to see all the projects that we'd been waiting for coming to fruition.
Can't wait to see what 2017 has in store for Damien.
A brilliant round up of 2016 in Damoland domino! What a fantastic year it's been. I love all of those photos....it's almost impossible to choose a favourite - there were lots of really great photos in 2016 - but I think I'd really have to include this one in the list....
it's a great photo....but also the occasion makes it so special!
One of the best things about 2016 has been the number of interviews there have been with Damien this year. There was a bit of an interview drought in 2015....but there have been some excellent ones this year. For some reason I particularly love the piece that he wrote for vue ahead of the NTlive broadcast of NML.
As 2015 wound down we were anticipating that 2016 would be the year that tiger raid was finally released, having already waited impatiently for over a year to see it - the anticipation increasing with every little glimpse. And what a treat when it finally arrived!
We already knew that Damien had filmed a new series of Suspects with Lenora - we even knew that Martha wouldn't be in it....but we had no idea just how special a series it would be...
And then - after a comparatively short flurry of speculation and ace detective work - Damien's casting in Crashing was confirmed along with a January air date. What an excellent start to the year!
But - in my opinion - the best was yet to come! The announcement of Damien's casting in NML alongside Sir Ian McKellan and Sir Patrick Stewart, not only in the West End, but also previewing with a short tour - and eventually screening on NTlive - has got to be THE damo news of 2016!! Surely a career defining moment! It has provided a year ful of treats.....that fantastic photo of the cast looking so relaxed in each others company; the ES theatre awards; interviews - imagine having Ian McKellan advise you on plays to read/parts to play!...... I have watched the little video clip which Damien posted on the last night - of him opening the door onto the stage, curtain down, the sound of birdsong playing over the murmer of the audience - over and over. It gives me goosebumps and, strangely, almost moves me to tears. Being able to see Damien perform live is such a treat.....getting to see him live on stage in such company was truly awesome.
After such a momentous year it's strange to move into 2017 with no projects in the bank.....that we know of! Even though Damien managed to squeeze in filming a tv pilot whilst on stage with the hard problem, it's hard to imagine that he's been able to fit anything else into this year - even 'Fell'....erm...fell by the wayside (sorry!). But it seems that Damien isn't able to sit still for long, so hopefully there will be news of his next project soon....and I can't wait to find out what it is!!
I finished my last post all in a hurry cos I suddenly realised I was supposed to be going out! But I missed out one of the toppest of top moments of 2016 which was the DMF charity prize draw!! The prizes were spectacular....and it was totally awesome of Damien to send them - and domino's domino! What a truly lovely gesture! And we raised over £1000 for charity! Brilliant!!!
