Today's Sunday Times has a piece on Roisin Conaty and the new series of GameFace.

Be warned there are a couple of plot spoilers! But it is mostly about this generation of female comedians, again, with references to Fleabag, but as pointed out.. GameFace has been in the works for four years!

It's nice to see this is getting quite a lot of attention.

Although I know it still says to air later in the summer in the article, I was a bit disappointed to see that Roisin tweeted a link saying that it's due out in the autumn.  Urgh!! I'm so missing Damo on my tv!!!  Hopefully it'll be late summer.....

I wonder whether all the Fleabag talk has made them reconsider the scheduling? I think summer is usually considered the "down time" and they may be thinking that if it's going to be a big hit they should be scheduling it in a slot that traditionally gets more viewers. I'm not sure the broadcasters have entirely shifted their thinking on such things even though fewer of us sit down to watch telly in the way we used to.

To be fair, she did say in one interview that it was scheduled for late summer/autumn, so I think this slots in to that. I suppose an autumn schedule is one in which we're more likely to be indoors, watching the telly and keeping warm by the fire, as opposed to making the most of the summer sun by being outdoors. Or, in my case, the summer rain!

Here in Germany it is the same. The "summer hole" and the rain. cry

There are also no good productions shown during the summer. They will wait until autumn.

Channel 4 themselves included Gameface in their summer highlights and at least 3 press publications mentioned July as an airdate, so it was obviously the original plan. If Autumn had been mentioned in the first place, it wouldn't feel so........!

It has been a hella long time since Mr M has appeared on our tellyboxes...

It's a bit disappointing that this is now going to be shown in the Autumn but seeing as it is already almost the end of July I'm sure it won't be too long to wait!

It's been far, far, far too long since damo has been on our tellyboxes.... 

I'd like to say that I'm still optimistic this'll be aired in the summer....but past experience suggests that may be a bit too hopeful.  I guess the autumn tv season starts at the beginning of September, so it could be just a few weeks away. 

Kinda feel the need for a 'fingers crossed' emoji...... this'll have to do

My guestimate was that Gameface would be scheduled on Thursday in the 9pm slot, after the latest New Girl series had finished, that being E4's comedy slot. Unfortunately, Body Fixers has now been scheduled in that slot and it is a 10 episode series... Perhaps Gameface will be on a different night, but Autumn is looking more likely now. Roisin is obviously in the know!

I'm with you on that Sana, surprised and in suspense!

As we know channel 4 initially said Gameface would air in the summer, there has been no official word since then. According to the channel, they 'only receive a confirmed schedule for the next two weeks, as anything after this period of time is subject to change.' But press have advanced listings so this is not strictly true. The only thing we have to go on at the moment is Roisin's tweet saying it will air in Autumn, which is not far off! I'm crossing fingers for an imminent announcement from Ch 4, at least with their Autumn highlights.fingerscrossed

You've very welcome Ellie, I'm definitely suffering with symptoms of DaMo Deprivation... hence my impatient comment 2 posts ago!

As much as I'm frustrated it won't now air 'til October (after Channel 4 said summer), it is nice to have an idea when to expect the series!
