Hi Sana, those are the international release dates listed on IMDb, but there may well be more. It would be great if you find out about Germany and let us know!

The same goes for all our international forumers, please come and tell us when the film is opening in your country - and more importantly about Damien's character if you see it!

There is really only 1 thing I want to know about this film - DOES DAMIEN HAVE A MASSIVE MOUSTACHE & SIDEBURNS AND ARE THEY AS MASSIVE AS MICHAEL SHANNON'S, MATTHEW MACFADYEN'S AND NICOLAS HOULT'S?

Please do come and share your thoughts, I'd love to hear!

Such a fab cast in the film, did we know that Craig Roberts was also in it?

Still no mention anywhere of how much Damien's lawyer character Bourke Cockran features in the new director's cut of the film.

Reviews are middling, but this one from the irish Mail does mention Damien briefly!

I have finally, finally seen Damien in The Current War!

All I can say is how super proud I feel as a fan to see him in this epic feature film alongside Michael Shannon!

Also, the costume, the hair, the everything!

Also, having been led to believe he was in a 'blink and miss it' role, I was very pleasantly surprised at how much he appeared, compared to my expectations. In total Bourke Cockran is in 4  scenes. Yes they are short, but my goodness, important scenes! In a film where it could be said that most of the actors are underused, apart from Cumberbatch and Shannon, I am not complaining!

The first is with Westinghouse (Shannon) who wants Cockran to help him reveal what kind of man Edison is, in a case regarding the use of the 'Westinghouse' AC/DC current for the first electrocution by electric chair. (Thrilling to see Damien with Shannon in this first scene!!)

The second is in the courtroom (the costume! the hair! the holding court! The close-ups!) questioning Edison (Cumberbatch) during trial

The third is post trial, talking about the price of fame with Westinghouse on the courtroom steps (The top hat!)

The fourth is with Westinghouse eating in a restaurant, talking about their approach and how the others had lied on the stand.

Overall, Westinghouse is portrayed as the good man, not wanting to resort to underhand tactics. Bourke Cockran is both his lawyer and sort of adviser in these few scenes.

Overall, I agree with some of the reviews about how the story could flow better, but it i utterly gorgeous to look at, the camera work is stunning and all the performances are fabulous.

4 stars overall from me, but Damien's scenes get 10 stars. highfive

Really happy I've seen TCW too Sana, it's been a loooooooong wait!

New release dates are on Imdb for Switzerland, but I also saw somewhere on Facebook that it will be released Switzerland, Germany and Austria 21 November! Crossing fingers for you fingerscrossed

So there are 2 votes in our forum poll for the film - woohoo! It would be great to hear from the other voter!

Glad you've seen it , domino, and that Damien has more than a 'blink and you'll miss him' role.
I'm still basically housebound at the moment so unable to go to the cinema, but I'm waiting for the DVD to come out!

Hi Ellie, yes it is by no means blink and miss it! It is a small but significant role and in the context of this incredible film, well worth the wait.

So sorry to hear you are still housebound, totally sympathise hug (Check your PMs!)

Yes, me too with the DVD, it has to arrive soooooon. How great it will look in our DaMo collections! fingerscrossed

The Current War hits US big screens today!

It would be great to hear from any of our American friends if you see it, what did you think - of the film, of Damien in the film and not forgetting, of Damien's fabulous costume?

The Current War: Director's Cut is getting better reviews than the 2017 version! The more interview I see with director the more I feel for him and the whole creative team. We're not the only ones who have been waiting and it sounds like he really suffered! So glad that his vision has finally seen the light and he has spoken out about it, and reclaimed his film.

Any of our American forumers seen it yet?

Well, I loved it! Could have had more Damien, but that was the only downside for me (after all

I thought Nicholas Hoult was good (normally I'm not a fan) and Tom Holland average (ditto comment about Hoult) but the rest of the cast were brilliant.

A really gripping story. For me, Edison came over as a nasty piece of work, much preferred Westinghouse - but that is how we were supposed to see it, I think.

yay You've seen it at last Ellie! Great to read your thoughts, thanks for sharing and for voting in the poll!

Yes, more Damien would always be a good thing!
When we were originally told his role was more or less 'blink and miss it' though, I was happily surprised how much Damien was in it in the end! I think it's a good 5 -6 minute chunk, and not much difference to some of the other characters.

Totally agree about Edison and Westinghouse, easier to admire the latter who seemed to want to do the right thing... this came across to me most all the times he tried to speak with Edison, human to human.. and all the times Edison avoided that. And how he, in the scenes with Damien as his lawyer Bourke Cockran, resisted resorting to any underhand means as far as he could.

Edison's behaviour was hard to respect, worst of all was his electric chair set up and denial..and lying in the courtroom, his whole arrogance. His genius could be admired, his personal story gained him a smidgeon of sympathy - through Mary's story (Tuppence Middleton) and his relationship with her and their children, I felt. Tesla is a fascinating character and would loved to have seen more on him.
