YEP! I know they have been elevated to God-like status, but there is loads of Doctor Who and Sherlock stuff being shared....just a little morsel of Ripper Street would not do any harm!

We are into October in a couple of days, I'm really hoping we at least hear something soon, seeing as October was the date being originally bandied around for the uk premiere.

Hmm - must admit that I'm sceptical.  I just can't see them changing from a Sunday night slot.....so I'm still going with Nov 3.  But that's still worthy of an eeekk, isn't it?

(although, the woman from Word Theatre did announce that Damien is a new regular on Ripper St, starting this Saturday - which it obviously isn't.....but maybe that does mean that it will air on a Sat. instead.  You see.....now I'm starting to doubt my own conviction!!)

I don't know if this was discussed but I just double checked -  last year BBCA ran Ripper Street on Saturday at 9pm,  this year they are running it on Sundays at 10pm.

I don't like that trend, sounds too much like what they did with Being Human, moving to later time slot. cry

Is it usual to have these sorts of printed confirmations (albeit still ambiguous) without the BBC officially announcing it?  Cummon BBC1, this is torture!

Tiger Aspect can probably release press material as well as the Beeb, so may have put something out...or it's a rehash of existing info.

If it is going to be a late October TX, I would expect proper information to start coming out in the next fortnight or so.

Nothing official has been released by Tiger Aspect or BBC. Until the BBC Confirms we don't know for sure! It is interesting though that 2 TV mags have mentioned October..isn't it.

fifi, lovey to hear that Damien was introduced to the stage by his new role in Ripper Street! but yes, deffo cannot be this Saturday, not on BBC One at least. It has been playing in my mind there may be a night change though But Ripper Street does not feel like a Saturday drama.

whimsy it occurred to me too there may be a time change. There was a bit of hooha about the content in RS earlier this year, wonder if that may effect air time? pure speculation of course.

Whatever the air date, we have all come on a long exciting journey since the beginning of this topic and Ripper Street is going to be so worth the wait!

Thing is, 10pm on a Sunday would mean it wouldn't be on BBC1, as the news is on then, followed by Match of the Day 2.

I think Nov 3rd is looking more likely...

I saw that blurb about Ripper Street too, (I buy that tv magazine) and if they're sticking to a weekend transmission day, then i can't see where it can go before November 3rd. If they're still saying that transmission is sometime this month, then i'm wondering whether they're going with another day. I wonder whether it'll be a Wednesday or even a Thursday night instead of the original Sunday. I'd prefer it to stay with the original Sunday night, it's how it got it's great viewing figures for S1 (apart from the usual storylines, writing, ideas, actors) so it might not work as well airing on another night completely. And surely we'd have seen a more detailed trailer by now? We still haven't had a transmission date for the new series of Inspector George Gently and Lee Ingleby originally was under the idea it would air sometime over September as it traditionally did before, and it didn't.

Oh good point about a later Sunday slot Kat. So that is ruled out, good.

Agree Lisa, but you said it better

Someone on twitter suggested Tuesday after New Tricks?

The options are then still that if it airs Oct it has to be a different night not time slot. Or Nov 3 at the earliest.

Thing is, if it is going to be Nov 3 how can these magazines get away with publishing October as the air date? I understand speculative and non precise journalism but this is the Beeb ..these publications can't just chuck out random dates !

Now we are in October, I am so hoping for some news and trailers soon. This is quality drama so I hope the Beeb give it lots of publicity and make a bit of a fuss about its return, in good time,

Also.......did I just read that correctly in the above article....about Drake?

Yes, they can just chuck out random dates and stuff...it's not illegal, lol. They're not the Beeb themselves and I presume there's no real embargo on info, so they can print what they like really.

New Tricks finished last night, so it's a possibility that it could fill the slot, but DIY SOS there next week and that's normally a series, so who knows.

My understanding of it is that with the BBC there is always an embargo on info, the press are only allowed to release info and pics for example after a certain date.

Domino: I read that about Drake and as a result i'm very curious. I wonder who it is, someone we've seen or a new character? My money is on the latter.

I think while the DIY SOS episode scheduled is usually a series, i think it may just be a one off. Could be wrong on that again. I have a funny feeling Ripper Street could be getting a new transmission night, Tuesday or Thursday perhaps, Wednesday night at 9pm is a new four part documentary thing about the Great British Year. Friday night is usually reserved for comedy.

BBC One have to start showing a more dedicated Ripper Street trailer soon if it is to air sometime later this month? I do know that sometimes release dates for shows aren't announced until perhaps a couple of weeks before projected transmission. Tiger Aspect were hoping for October sometime.

Yes, I am deeply curious about Drake, I also imagine the latter Lisa. his 'love life' storyline was truly moving in the first series so this is big and quite enthralling news...again though odd that it is allowed to be revealed as it is very spoilerish!
(Apologies to all by the way, i will go back and add a spoiler alert to previous post)

Indeed, October/Autumn has been thrown around as the date for quite some time now..... you know what we will wake up one morning soon, and there will be the trailer! and before it, the series! come to think of it maybe we should savour this period of suspense *tries to convince herself of the wisdom in this*

We're all trying to convince ourselves Domino.

After the joys of some live stuff this week, we're all salivating at the thought of Damo on our screens. It literally can't come quickly enough!

I wondered about Drake and too am surprised they printed that morsel of info. Which leads me to speculate we come into S2 established sometime later than we left off and he'll already be married. What about the other brothel girl, the one he paid just to sleep in her arms for a spell? (Awwwww) I also consider a foreign mail order bride.  Did they have those in England? Poor Drake is so sweet but has a hard time with the ladies.  In an interview Charlene Mackenna said she'll be singing.  In my imagination she moved up to vaudeville type showgirl. I let my imagination get carried away sometimes. wink

A weekday could potentially be better for my viewing as weekends I have to worry about family.  If it were at 9pm on a Tues or Thurs that's 1pm for me, I could watch it live before going on school run.  I just hope they announce it ASAP. Getting worried it will get pushed to next year which seems unlikely as the US date is set (though I suppose that can always change).

Well series one was set in 1889, the year after the Ripper Murders and series two according to the blurb is a year later. So Drake's circumstances are believable.

I'm hoping, if not Sunday night, then it doesn't air here Tuesday or Wednesday because my Sky+ schedule is crazy busy as it is and with new shows beginning or shows resuming quickly here, it will only get busier. And if it goes for a weekday at 9pm, i'll be watching it on catch up as that's slap bang in the middle of my kids' bedtime routines (between 9-10pm) at least on a Sunday night, my OH was about to help out, two weeks out of three through the week he's at work (he works a three shift system) so i won't be able to watch it 'live' as i used to with Being Human.

The Ripper Street series 2 cast/crew premiere is happening tonight and the press premiere tomorrow....

This bodes very well for our anticipated air dates!

Someone tweeted in response to one of the Ripper Street tweets:

"looking forward to it being aired in the UK. Just gutted we have to wait til next yr when the US sees it Dec"

I'm sure she's misinformed/making assumptions.  I hope BBCONE will finally end the silence within the next couple of days and give us an airdate!
